Bali Bnei Hof Encore, 3/20-21, Days 76-77

Ten years ago Hilary and I schlepped fifty Gages of Repentance down to start a new Progressive congregation, which we named Bnei Hof, literally, the Beach boys!.  Today we revisited the Progressive  Balinese chavura outreach effort to see what happened.

Day one:  Bali South with Weda.  We began with the Hindu Disneylandesque HIndu attraction build into an old quarry, GWK cultural park with the towering Garuda Wishnu Kencana,  the 4th largest statue in the world, Uluwatu South Temple, Padang Padang Surfer's Beach

Shabbat dinner with Bnei Hof where I brought a dozen synagogue at sea congregants to join with a dozen Bali locals and guests from Australia, Canada and Israel for a delicious vegan shabbat dinner with guitar singing by Dan Kohane who got his start ten years ago when he magically appeared half an hour before Erev Rosh HaShana services to be my cantorial soloist

Day two:  Bali East ancient village Tenganan Pegringsingan, is one of the island's oldest and most well-preserved Bali Aga (original Balinese) villages. It is renowned for its strict adherence to traditional customs, unique fortress-like layout, and the rare double ikat "geringsing" cloth, offering a glimpse into pre-Hindu Balinese culture.  and Goa Lawah, or "Bat Cave Temple."  We cooled off at the end of our day with a dip in the "Mikveh" by the Waterfall in Tegenungan Village.
